Automatic QRL ERC20 Token Migration End-date

Automatic QRL Token MigrationEnd-date June 15th 2019 61

The cut-off for automatic token migration is on , or, for those that enjoy a more longform countdown:

  • day(s)
  • hours(s)
  • minutes(s)
  • seconds(s)

You can also view the countdown at timeanddate, which gives more options like saving to your calendar!

The current token migration process is automatic and almost immediate.

After June 15th, 2019, however, the process for migrating ERC20s will be manual, and may take an indeterminate amount of time. Additionally, each manual migration will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. It's strongly recommended that any and all users who still have QRL ERC20's to migrate them BEFORE the closure of automatic migration on

This is the first step towards completely blocking migration.

To help ensure that this page helps everyone with migration, we've included the steps on how to migrate today, after June 15th, as well as the most frequently asked question about what will happen to unmigrated Quanta.

Migration steps

Migration is a 3 step process which is outlined below. There is also video and text guides that go into it in more detail. Not one to read the instructions? Head over to migration.theqrl.org.

  • Step 1: Create a QRL mainnet address by going to wallet.theqrl.org or downloading any one of our desktop clients or use the ledger nano s. Be sure to keep and verify your credentials!
  • Step 2: Go to migration.theqrl.org and generate a burn address from your QRL mainnet address. Optionally include your email, which can be useful for support & troubleshooting.
  • Step 3: Send your QRL ERC20 to the burn address generated in step 2 and your QRL will be reflected in the address created in step 1 between 24 and 72 hours.

While we're pleased that we still haven't had any lost funds and people have found the migration to be smooth and simple, migrating any amount of cryptocurrency can be a nerve-racking process. We're here to answer any questions and provide support in discord, reddit, twitter, or through email at [email protected].

Steps after June 15th

After June 15th at 20:00 UTC, the process will look a bit different and be more involved.

  • Step 1: A QRL User will email [email protected] with a QRL mainnet address the user created (QRL addresses that start with a Q).
  • Step 2: Support (via [email protected]) will respond to the user with an ETH ERC20 burn address.
  • Step 3: User will send QRL ERC20s to the ETH burn address sent via email.
  • Step 4: QRL address provided by user will be sent Quanta at a 1:1 ratio to ERC20s burnt.
  • Step 5: User will now have 1 Quanta in their QRL address for every 1 ERC20 they sent to their burn address

What will happen to the QRL ERC20 tokens and the reserved Quanta for migration after the final migration end-date?

June 15th is a soft-date where migration isn't completely blocked. For that you will need to complete the new process outlined above. This is the first step of a two step process, with the next step being announcing a hard-date for the end of migration.

At no point in time will the Quanta be accessible to the Foundation. The people that still have non-migrated QRL ERC20 tokens will still have them of course.
